one.
she will smile at you, teeth flashing
and though you don’t notice
she eyes your veins while sipping her red drink.

two.
she will laugh at your jokes
her head thrown all the way back
rolling her eyes as soon as you cannot see them.

three.
she will bat her eyes until you tell her you love her
and bite her lip until you want to kiss it
then she will get up without a word and leave.

four.
she will present herself as yours
but when you try to take her
she will crush your bones to dust.

five.
she will tear out your heart with her teeth
and step on your throat, delighted all the while
she will tell you she loves you as she drains your blood into her morning tea

and you will realize

             she was never yours.
